'JAZZ SALUTE TO CHARLES GAYLE'

Journeying from Washington DC on August 4, 2021, and under a bright new Cecily Brown mural that literally covered the whole rear wall of the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts in Buffalo NY, flute/saxophonist Charles Rahmat Woods performed a 'Tribute to Charles Gayle'. Joining him in acknowledging the influence and creative stature of the eclectic saxophonist Charles Gayle was Sabu Adeyola on bass and Abdul Rahman Qadir on drums. It was a supreme 'pop up' concert for the community and included the world premier of Rahmat's composition "Juini" in honor of the late great bassist Juini Booth.
